Letter to the Editor: NEWLAND SIERRA MAY HAVE VIOLATED CEQA PROCEDURES

Editor, Times-Advocate:
Newland Sierra is a (2,135 homes) proposed development at the old Merriam Mountains site at Deer Springs road and I-15.
It is interesting why the County Planning Commission has allowed the use of “bundling” project meetings to possibly approve 10 developments into one meeting, when only 4 meetings per yr (1 project per mtg) are county policy. Could it be developers are receiving a favor before the November county supervisors elections, which afterwards, may not be as friendly to developers?
Information has recently surfaced, via a public records information request, that Newland Sierra used consultants to write some of their EIR (environmental impact report) that are not on the approved county list. If this is a violation of CEQA procedures this project should be delayed until they conform to county policy.
This project was voted down by the supervisors when it was known as Merriam Mountains, prior to the General Plan. Now, the developer is attempting to gather 3 supervisors ‘yes’ votes to amend the General Plan to continue LA type urban sprawl.
It is time our county supervisors enforce the General Plan and stop being ‘yes men’ to developers money.

This Trump-wellian policy of child abuse must stop of separating children from their parents at the border. This cruel choice of this President and hard-liner Sessions to enforce zero tolerance for all illegal entrance even for asylum seekers is mean spirited. No, it is not a law to separate children from parents. It is a policy and interpretation you chose. Blame Shifter In Chief, stop your lying and blaming. You and the Republican Party are in charge of this and can reverse it overnight. I ask the citizens of this country to Make America Care Again. On this Father’s Day, I ask all fathers and mothers how you would feel if your child was ripped from your arms at the border while you attempted refuge from danger?
Session’s chose a Biblical reading that was used to justify slavery, segregation, and Nazism. I choose “Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself”
