This is reference to a recent column by Rick Elkin, his June 7 piece: “Building Frankenstein: The city council and the former Escondido Country Club development.”
Thank you for the clear and complete analysis of the situation at the former Escondido Country Club.
As a neighbor, I am encouraged that your paper has accurately, as I perceive it, described the situation of the property and the legalities surrounding it. I am hopeful that a judge will review the entire process and that the Council will consider the alternative development suggested by ECCHO.
It has been nearly five years. And now every day we watch the piles of trash left from the beginnings of tearing down the burned-out clubhouse. Neighbors sell and leave. Property values are probably sinking.
It is a shame that such a pleasant area of our city is being ignored by those entrusted to watch out for all its citizens.
