Kick up your heels at Grand Avenue Festival Oct. 21

The Grand Ave Festival and Street Fair will be Sunday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s a day of entertainment, international food and shopping…just in time to fill that holiday gift list. It’s also a great venue to showcase your business or to take the family for a day of fun.

What’s New?

MAGEC is hosting Art in the Garden at Juniper, featuring local artisans and entertainment.

The E.A.P. has lots of family fun planned at the Creative Kids Corner.

Bring your dog to Dogs on the Lawn at Orange Avenue for various contests and a Police K9 demonstration. Looking to adopt a new furry family member? The Humane Society will be there to get you started.

Check out the Horses of the famed Escondido Caballos  at Center City.

Kick up your heals at the Maple Street Plaza stage and enjoy Escondido’s local talent.

From end to end, there will be plenty to see and do for the entire family. Along with the 400 booths, Grand Ave businesses will be open and ready to explore. If you are in for a real challenge, you can test your skills on the 24 foot climbing wall. If you make it to the top, there is a fist full of cash up for grabs as well as gifts from Grand Ave businesses.

The Chase & Maple stages (sponsored by Newland Sierra) will be showcasing some very fun and engaging entertainment … both human and canine.  The hope is that all the “pet people” of Escondido come out to embrace the new “Dogs On The Lawn” events and bring their dogs for some furry-fun contests! Petsmart and the Petsmart Hotel are sponsoring the (dog) events and will be awarding some really awesome prize packages to the winners!

Since the organizers are incorporating furry friends into the Grand Avenue Festival this year, they are also encouraging local businesses on Grand to embrace their presence as well. Places such as Dominic’s pooch friendly patio, Cute Cakes and their popular “pup cakes,” and of course Vinz with their full doggie menu will be popular spots to hit. However, they would like to see other businesses come up with some creative and unique ideas to welcome pets and their owners into their establishments!

At the other end of Grand Avenue from where Fido and friends will be running around, will be another great spot to see and hear local talent – Heritage Garden. There will be nearly two dozen local and regional artists showcasing their works, as local musicians entertain the crowd with their talents from the Gazebo.

So there is going to be plenty to do and plenty to see at this fall’s Grand Avenue Festival…and all it needs to be a success is you.
