San Diego art glass and mixed media artist James Stone of Stone & Glass has been chosen as this year’s 2019 Family & Visitor Attraction Awards in LUXlife Magazine’s Autumn issue.

“After more than 30 years as a glassblowing artist, I am honored and humbled to have been selected,” said Stone. “I take great pride in the work that I do – and it feels especially rewarding to be recognized for teaching [through my workshops].”

Stone is a full-time artist working out of his studio in Escondido, Calif. He is best known for his use of color; his process of casting glass hot out of the furnace, directly into the sculpted metal, is unique. His one-of-a-kind technique forges metal and hot cast glass with painted accents. Each piece has a long creation cycle and represents a great deal of time, talent and experience from start to finish.

“From attractions which raise our adrenaline, transport us to another time or provide once-in-a-lifetime interactions with nature,” LUX Life highlights winners’ efforts and hard work in providing the locals and environments which offer pleasurable diversions and recreational activities.

Stone designs commissioned work for individual clients, but also restaurants, museums and corporate businesses; from sets of drinking glasses to massive vases, bowls, lighting fixtures and sculptures, in a variety of themes and styles.

Stone and Glass is located at 629 W. Grand Ave., Escondido.
