It’s a busy January at Escondido Public Library

Now that the year has turned, the Escondido Public Library has lots of events planned during January.

Inclusive Art Club

1st and 3rd Fridays from January 4–April 19. 4–5 p.m. All Ages are welcome. The club meets in the Turrentine Room. Children of all ages and abilities enjoy stories and create art from favorite picture books.


STEM Exploration Hour

Thursday, January 17, 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Turrentine Room. For ages 6–12.

Explore hydraulics, wind power, coding, and engineering at various activity stations. The Library’s 3D printer, Silhouette Cameo printer, and Raspberry Pi’s will be on display.


Wellness Fair

Saturday, January 26, 1–4 p.m.

Turrentine Room • All Ages

Visit and learn from community partners, including mental health professionals, financial advisers, senior medical care liaisons, essential oil experts, and other service providers to help you start the New Year healthy and happy.  Providers include:

Lunar New Year Celebration: Lion Dancers

Thursday, January 31,  6:30–7:30 p.m.

Turrentine Room. All Ages. 

Learn about the history and cultural significance of lion dancing as the Three Treasures Cultural Arts Society Lion Dance team performs a traditional dance celebrating the Lunar New Year!


Virtual Reality is Back!

Alternating Tuesdays, January 8–May 28, at 5–6:30 p.m. Collaboration Corner (1st Floor.) Ages 13–Adult. Step into virtual worlds using the Library’s Oculus Rift Virtual Reality equipment! Interact with unusual creatures and explore familiar and otherworldly landscapes.
