San Diego County Sheriff Deputies responded to the San Pasqual Academy on a report from staff that a 15 year old male resident was detained for
detonating an explosive device (toilet bowl / plastic bottle acid bomb). Upon arrival no other destructive devices were
located. The preliminary investigation determined that the 15 year old constructed the device out of toilet bowl cleaner and
aluminum foil, placed within a plastic soda bottle. A teacher / staff member observed it and picked it up. The teenage
suspect warned the staff member to get rid of it, as it would explode. The bottle was tossed into nearby bushes and a few
minutes later the device exploded. No injuries occurred as a result of the explosion. The youth was arrested for
possession of destructive device and booked into Juvenile Hall.
