Halloween may look a little spookier this year, but the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is out to make it just as fun as any other.
Halloween night itself will include a family-friendly showing of Disney Pixar’s “Coco” at the Cal State San Marcos Drive-In. The movie begins at 8 p.m. in Lot F on the Cal State San Marcos campus. Gates open two hours prior to movie time. Tickets are available online at artcenter.org/coco.
Halloween festivities don’t end there. The Center is putting on a Halloween Costume Contest for a chance to win tickets to “Coco” on Halloween night. Participants can enter by posting a photo in their Halloween costume on social media and tagging the Center @theCCAE.
The contests don’t end there. The Center will choose three winners for a Halloween Car Decorating Contest on Halloween night at the Drive-In location. Prizes include tickets for up to 3 future Drive-In shows. More details available at artcenter.org/halloween.
Other Halloween Drive-In events include a showing of “Hocus Pocus” on Friday, October 23rd, as well as a showing of the original 70s cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show” accompanied by a live cast of performers on stage on Friday, October 30th. Rocky Horror will be an immersive Drive-In experience: costumes and audience participation are encouraged.
Rocky Horror Survival Kit goodie bags are available for additional purchase, which include bubbles, newspaper, glow stick, noisemaker, party hat, a playing card and a red marker for any “virgins” who might be in your car. (Cash only, while supplies last). Tickets are available at artcenter.org/rockyhorror.
