Well, if you haven’t heard that the spring Grand Avenue Festival is this Sunday, either you’ve been out of town, under a [potato chip] rock, or without cell service.
But you’re lucky to find out now because it is going to be one hidden valley of a great time! Taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on lovely historic Grand Avenue, it will be the place to be and the place to be seen this weekend.
There will be a plethora of activities happening on both the Chase lawn and Maple Street stages (sponsored by Newland Sierra). Starting off in the morning with the Dogs on the Lawn contests from 10 a.m.–11 a.m., where you can enter “Fido” in the Best Trick, Best Costume, or Pet/Owner Look-A-Like contests with some awesome prize packages provided by PetSmart Escondido.
You can also enjoy demonstrations from Wonder Dog Training, and the Escondido Police K-9 Unit. There will also be martial arts, dancing, gymnastics, music from Trade Secret, Sunny Side Strings, Cali Smith, and more. You and the family can also take part in the Creative Kids Corner at Juniper & Grand where you can participate in a Pizza Walk, do Arts & Crafts with the help of the team from the Escondido Arts Partnership, and see the wonders of technology demonstrated by the San Pasqual High School SuperNURDS Robotic Team!
Then you can mosey across the street to enjoy Art in the Garden (sponsored by Integral Communities), where you’ll find some truly amazing and incredible artists showcasing their talents! Paintings, sculptures, hand-blown glass, recycled and upcycled clothing, and more will be on display and for purchase.
Finally, after you’ve taken in all those wonderful things, you can stroll back down Grand Avenue people watching, eating pretty much anything your palate desires, and realizing that Escondido is not only a really cool place, but a place that you like to visit and a place you love calling home!
