When it comes to modern instrumental music, there’s one name that appears at the top of everyone’s list: Chris Botti. Botti returns to the California Center for the Arts, Escondido on March 8 at 7:30 p.m.
This Grammy award winning trumpeter has broken new ground by taking the legendary sounds of the trumpet and bringing them into the new millennium. Since releasing his debut in 1995, First Wish, it’s been hard to classify Botti in one particular genre. Multi-award winning producer, David Foster classifies Botti as, “The next great living legend of the trumpet.”
His albums have gone platinum, with 2009’s Chris Botti in Boston reaching Diamond certification. His knack for partnering with incredible musicians has always turned into “can’t-miss” duets with Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. On his latest Grammy winning album, Impressions, Botti teams with legends like Herbie Hancock, Vince Gill, and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits for an amazing rendition of “What A Wonderful World.”
Since the early days of touring with Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich, Botti has always put music first and is able to respect and honor all types of music from every decade, culture, and corner of the map. His goal of making music that speaks to everyone is never more present than in his live shows.
