Georgia Prior


January 3, 1926 – November 21, 2018, was a lifelong Escondido resident

On Thanksgiving night Georgia Prior (née Hillebrecht), loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at her Escondido home. She was surrounded by loved ones and was still is able to laugh and enjoy life as she always had.

Georgia Hillebrecht was born on her parent’s ranch in Escondido in 1926. They provided some adjoining land for her when she married John “Jack” Prior, Jr., in 1947 and that is where he built a house for them and their future family. They lived there for all of their married lives. 

Jack was from an Escondido ranching family, too. They met while attending Escondido High School. Georgia also attended UCLA.

“Gege” also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Leader of a Girl Scout Troop for many years, where she formed several lasting friendships with her girls.

She is survived by her son Gregory Alan, daughter Caro Louise, granddaughters Jodi and Jackie, and great grandchildren Hudson and Hadley. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Jack, in 2004. 

A graveside memorial will be held at 2 p.m. December 28, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery with a gathering afterwards for all to share the fellowship of her many dear friends and relatives.
