James Rowten has been selected as the new CEO of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, named to replace Rorie Johnston, who is moving to Arizona in June.
Rowten is an executive with extensive experience in broadcast marketing.
Rowten’s second day on the job was Wednesday. In the weekly Chamber newsletter, Rowten wrote, “. . . I am fortunate to have the opportunity to interface and download the various undertakings and programs the Chamber is currently involved with from outgoing Chamber leader Rorie Johntson. Rorie and I have known each for a relatively brief amount of time but it’s been enough time to see what impact she has made here at the Chamber and Escondido. Her insights and willingness to help me with my transition as the new leader of the Chamber is invaluable.”
LinkedIn notes that Rowten worked for nine years with KPBS as a corporate development manager, from 2009-2018. From February 2002 – March 2009 he was chief operating officer for DMTV Inc. a successful media marketing company he founded that specialized in broadcast/cable markets.
