Fire and Water expo Saturday

The 18th Annual Escondido Fire and Water Expo on Saturday, June 9, will be a fun and exciting event showcasing fire and life safety, disaster preparedness, water conservation, and quality of life issues for the whole family – and it’s free!

The event will be held at Escondido Fire Station #4, Kit Carson Park, where visitors of all ages will enjoy fire station tours, fire engine displays, an inflatable slide, refreshments, fire engine rides, lots of information from area agencies and organizations, and MUCH more!  The theme this year is “A Recipe for Safety,” reminding us all that cooking continues to be the most common cause of fire throughout the United States although it’s probably the most easily prevented.

“Whether it’s wildland fire or a cooking fire in the home, we need to be prepared to know how to respond and do our best to prevent these tragedies, “Rincon Fire District spokesman Julia Escamilla commented, and added, “We’re glad to be able to provide this information in one place where it can be a fun event for the whole family.”

The Escondido Fire Department and Rincon Fire District have shared in the traditional goal of saving lives and property over several decades and, once again, they will team up to host this event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  They’re even serving an inexpensive lunch to those who get hungry watching cars get ripped apart by the Jaws of Life and seeing a helicopter land nearby for a close-up visit.

The free Fire Station Open House and Expo, an annual tradition for nearly two decades, will be a fun experience for all ages, including an opportunity to talk with hardworking first responders and to see firefighting equipment up close.
