Feeding San Diego adds Escondido site Friday

Volunteers place food directly into attendee’s cars at Feeding San Diego Together Tour events. The organization will begive distributing food in Escondido on Friday at Emmanuel Faith Community Church.

To continue to address the increased need for food assistance in San Diego County, Feeding San Diego‘s Together Tour is adding a site in Escondido starting on Friday, July 16 at the Emmanuel Faith Community Church from 10 a.m. to noon. The distribution will be held on the first Friday of every month through December.  The church is located at 639 E 17th Ave., Escondido.

Feeding San Diego continues to address the increased need for food assistance caused by the pandemic, and introduced ongoing large-scale food distributions to serve the elevated number of San Diegans in crisis across the county.

The tour has already stopped at North Island Credit Union Ampitheatre, Legoland, Pechanga Arena Southwestern Community College, CSU San Marcos, Palomar College and the Shoppes at Carlsbad.

These distributions are in addition to the hundreds of regular distributions held each month with partners around the county.

Friday’s stop is the first in Escondido, with a large-scale set up in a parking lot at Emmanuel Faith Community Church. This distribution is contactless, and attendees will drive through to receive approximately 50 pounds of food, including dry goods, produce and a frozen meat protein. Those in need can easily register at feedingsandiego.org/together-tour/

At these events, volunteers place about 50 pounds of food in the trunk of attendees’ cars as they drive through, making large parking lots the ideal place to hold these events.
