Thirty years ago the milking barn at Bates Nut Farm was transformed into the Farmer’s Daughter Gift Shop & Boutique. This year, in celebration of her 30th anniversary, the Farmer’s Daughter went through another major transformation. Beautiful wood plank floors, reclaimed barn wood and aluminum siding, chandeliers, and more have brought the farm ambience back to the store.
In 1985, owner Sherrie Bates Ness was just out of college, and excited to start her own business. Over the years she has built the Farmer’s Daughter into a distinctive local shop that draws visitors from near and far. Sherrie travels several times each year to source clothing, gifts, jewelry, accessories and other unique items to fill the store. In addition to the product mix, the friendly vibe brings customers back in to shop for themselves or for gifts.
Longtime associates Donna Mier and Kathy Dendy have been a big part of the store’s success because of their eagerness to help customers with their selections.
The public is invited to celebrate this milestone on Saturday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be refreshments, including the Farmer’s Daughter Signature Punch, prizes, and extra discounts offered throughout the day. Guests are asked to RSVP to Becca Smith at 760-749-3333 or firstname.lastname@example.org, and they will receive a $5 off coupon valid only on April 15.
