Escondido Union School District September 26 held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the modernization of facilities at Central Elementary School that was paid with Proposition E money.

The ceremony was held at the Central Elementary School’s kindergarten, preschool, and community center buildings. District administrators were joined by Board of Education members, Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee Members, community partners, teachers, parents, and other supporters to celebrate and tour the new school buildings.

Voters in EUSD approved Proposition E in 2014, and the Central Elementary projects were made possible by this bond.

The just completed work included new classrooms, playground, and playground equipment for preschoolers and kindergartners; new community center; new schoolwide playground field with sod.

The ceremony included the dedication of the kindergarten playground to retired Central Elementary kindergarten teacher Constance Blackburn and recognition of Poway High student Kaitlyn Chan, who raised funds for a playground shade structure; and district representatives, including teachers and support services team members, community partners, and alumni.
