Escondido Writers Group meets monthly at Escondido Public Library

Escondido Writers Group will meet at Escondido Public Library on Tuesday, August 1, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Turrentine Room.

Writers of all genres are invited to join the Escondido Writers Group for an opportunity to improve their writing by participating in monthly readings and group critiques. Meet other writers and published authors, and learn from one another in a supportive environment. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of their current writing projects to share and receive constructive feedback.

This month the group is joined by special guest Dana Elmendorf, author of the young adult novel “South of Sunshine.”  Elmendorf’s first published novel centers around Kaycee, a teenage girl in a small southern town. As Kaycee starts discovering her sexuality, she finds that she is attracted to other girls, and is forced to face the social pressures that surround her. Elmendorf was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee and currently resides in Southern California. She will read a passage from South of Sunshine, discussing her writing process, and sharing her sources of inspiration.

Escondido Writers Group is free and open to the public.
