On the weekend of September 6–9 Escondido’s Erica Champagne competed in the Woman of Achievement, Mrs. California Pageant and was crowned Mrs. California.
She told The Times-Advocate, “I was extremely honored to be the very first contestant to compete from Escondido, and to be the first person to hold the Mrs. Escondido title. There were so many wonderful contestants from all over California, and also from different areas of the world.”
Mrs. Champagne’s platform was on the importance of Animal Shelter Rescue, and Wildlife Rescue. Her talent performance was singing “Part of your World,” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
“Being a part of this pageant is not to only wear the pretty dresses, and the pretty crown, but to show the importance of serving your community,” she said. “I am extremely honored to be your Mrs. California, and I hope to bring Escondido that honor as well. I am so thrilled to be competing for Mrs. USA in November, and I hope to bring the crown home to Escondido! I am forever thankful for my amazing family, friends, and sponsors.”
Outside of pageants, Mrs. Champagne performs in musical theatre, with Star Repertory Theatre. She concluded, “I am a dog mom to two pug rescues and married to my high school sweetheart. My husband and I have spent our whole lives here in Escondido. I just recently graduated from Mira Costa Community college and attended Escondido Charter High School 2009-2012. I am currently working towards becoming a Medical Spa Esthetician.”
