Erica Champagne, who lives on the border of Escondido and Valley Center, and considers herself a resident of both, was chosen to audition for “America Idol” last week.
She told the Times-Advocate “I had the incredible honor to audition for American Idol this morning! ABC News chose me as their ‘San Diego Idol’ winner! So I was one of the first 7 to audition for Season 2! I didn’t get a golden ticket to Hollywood, but I am still extremely honored, and excited to be chosen as your ‘San Diego Idol!’ I was interviewed this morning, and gave my wonderful city of Escondido a shout out! (I currently live on the border of Escondido/Valley Center). See if you can spot me in the upcoming season! A big thank you to everyone who has been so supportive!”
