The following Escondido residents achieved distinction at the college level this month.

Samantha Gimon Corded as Professional Educator

Samantha Gimon of Escondido has been honored by the Iowa State University Educator Preparation Program for achieving the rank of a pro­fessional educator.

Gimon, who studied elementary education, was one of 191 Iowa State University graduates who were bestowed with academic cords of light blue, the traditional color worn by those in the field of education receiving bachelor’s degrees, in a ceremony on Friday, May 6, in Stephen’s Audi­torium in Ames. Each student chose an influential mentor to present them with the cords on stage.

The Iowa State University Educator Preparation Program comprises students and faculty in several colleges. The program is coordinated by the School of Education in the College of Human Sciences.

Macy Devenport named to Spring 2016 Dean’s List at ENMU

Macy Devenport of Escondido has been named to Eastern New Mexico University’s Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours with a GPA between 3.25 and 4.00.

ENMU, a state institution offering associate, bachelor and master de­gree options, serves students from around the world. Courses are offered on-campus and online.
