Escondido Public Library presents “For the Love of Music,” a violin concert performed by children, ages 7 to 12 years, who are in the California Center for the Arts, Escondido’s (the Center) Jean Will Strings musical program.
This special concert is by and for children, however, all ages are welcome to attend. “For the Love of Music” will be held on Friday, February 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the library’s Turrentine Room.
Conducted by Kim Stephens-Doll, the children will perform a medley of American classics. Following the performance, attendees will have an opportunity to meet and greet the young musicians.
Named after its benefactor, Jean Will of Escondido, the Jean Will Strings Program at the Center provides children with a violin and free classical music instruction.
Sherehe Hollins, the Center’s Education Program Manager, explained, “Children in the Jean Will Strings Program also participate in master classes with internationally renowned musicians, experience live concerts at the Center, and perform on stage throughout the year.”
Dan Wood, the Library’s Youth Services Senior Librarian added, “Partnering with the California Center for the Arts, Escondido brings a special violin performance to the community. Children who attend the concert will enjoy the music and may be inspired by the young musicians to want to play as well.”
