ARMED ROBBERY

August 14, 10:28 a.m. officers responded to an armed robbery at the Escondido Lodge, 2650 S. Escondido Blvd. The suspect stole $300 in cash from the business. The suspect fled in an older white 4-door Ford Explorer, which was involved in a hit and run traffic collision at Centre City Pkwy and Citracado Pkwy moments after fleeing the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

FRAUD INVESTIGATION SEARCH WARRANT

August 17, officers assisted the Department of Defense (DOD) with a search warrant in connection with a fraud investigation. The search warrant went without incident. Officers discovered seven “Assault Weapons” including three rifles, one shotgun, and three handguns. No arrest was made, but a naval officer is facing fraud and weapons charges.

VEHICLE STOP

August 17, 7:57 p.m., officers attempted a vehicle stop at 7Th Ave and Spruce St. The vehicle matched the description of a suspect vehicle used in a recent shooting. The vehicle stopped in the north alley of 8th Ave and Spruce St. and three Hispanic men fled the car and ran into the back yard of 718 S. Tulip St. Officers apprehended two of the suspects who were booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Officers recovered several handguns during a search of the area.

NON-BREATHING CHILD

August 18, 11:44 a.m. dispatch received a 911 call regarding a non-breathing child at 619 Judson St. An officer and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. An officer arrived first and performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived and took over. The child was transported to Palomar Medical Center where he is in serious, but stable condition.

VEHICLE COLLISION

August 19, 10:42 p.m. officers were dispatched to 422 S. Date St. regarding a vehicle collision. Further investigation revealed the driver was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. A six-year-old female passenger in the car sustained minor injuries. The child was taken to Palomar Medical Center, and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. The driver was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

FIGHT IN PROGRESS

August 20, 3:58 a.m. officers responded to 304 E. Grand Ave, Heritage Garden, to investigate a fight in progress. Officers arrived and contacted several transients creating a disturbance. The investigation revealed one of the men, who was intoxicated, displayed a knife to one of the other men in a threatening manner. The male suspect was and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
