Escondido man found dead in mobile home
On the night of Friday, April1, Escondido police discovered a man dead in his mobile home after he apparently deliberately set fire in his kitchen. Earlier in the evening officers answered a report of a family disturbance at the East Valley Parkway home and found the man in a disturbance with other family members.
Police left but were called back. The man continued to make a disturbance and to throw objects at the police. Officers detected the odor of natural gas and back away, calling the Fire Department. When firefighters arrived the home was filled with smoke. The man was discovered deceased in his bedroom.
Robbery at Albertson’s
On Sunday afternoon, April 3 an Escondido man was mugged and robbed in the parking lot of the Escondido Albertson’s. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Valley Parkway. The suspect in the mugging was described as a 30-year old man, 6 feet tall, with brown hair and green eyes. The man may have been armed with some sort of knife. The victim was transported to Palomar Medical Center.
