Escondido photographer Major Morris’s works at Poway Center in June

“Danish Doorway,” one of the 60 photos that are on display this month by the late Escondido photographer Major Morris at the Poway Center for the Arts.

An exhibit by the late Escondido photographer Major Morris (1921 – 2016) entitled “Sands of His Time” is now on display at the Poway Center for the Arts, 15498 Espola Rd.,  Poway.

 “Sands of His Time” is an eclectic view of 50 years of photography by the educator/photographer.

Exhibit Dates: June 2019 

Hours: Tuesday – Saturday*  10 a.m. –2 p.m.

A docent will be available Wednesday June 5 and Friday June 21 from 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

A reception will be held June 16, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. with a  special presentation est. 2:30 p.m.

The exhibit 70 images range from Morris’s photos taken during the 1960s and 1970s tumultuous years in the U.S. Northeast with focus on people at various stages of life, to a series of colorful still life and nature photos, mainly produced in the 1990s and early 2000s after Morris moved to Southern California.

Also included are photographs from his travels overseas in the 1970s and later.
