Daniel Luna, 40, of Escondido, was sentenced to 14 years in state prison for shooting a man and pistol-whipping a woman July 29, 2019 in Escondido.
Luna had pleaded guilty to the double crime of attempted murder and assault with a firearm earlier this year. The attacks happened shortly before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Rose Street and Mission Avenue.
Daniel Luna, 40, pleaded guilty earlier this year to attempted murder and assault with a firearm for attacking the victims last July. Police and prosecutors have not disclosed a motive for the attacks, nor the relationship, if any, between Luna and the victims.
When officers arrived they found a male victim with gunshot wounds to arm and leg. It was not established whether the attack on the woman occurred there or elsewhere.
Luna was later arrested about a block from the scene of the shooting.
