If you are at least 50 years old and looking for a unique volunteering challenge, the Escondido Fire Department Support Volunteer program currently has openings for qualified men and women to provide incident support and assist Escondido Fire in daily operational duties. Candidates must be able to commit a minimum of 16-20 hours per month; be able to lift 40 pounds with the help of a partner; be able to drive at night; possess a valid CA Driver’s License and must pass a DMV and Live Scan (fingerprint) background check.
Some of the volunteer duties involve serving the public by providing a broad range of logistic, administrative, and public education support to the Department. These can include:
—Deliver fire department inter-station mail
—Pick up and deliver supplies and equipment as needed
—Provide citizen assistance (informational and directions) while at fire stations or while on duty in the assigned fire department vehicle
—Assist fire department personnel with information displays, presentations, and special events
—Set up and maintain a respite area for firefighting personnel at fires and other extended incidents
Training is provided to qualified applicants.
