Friday August 7, at about 9:28 p.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a structure fire at the south end of Valley Meadow Place.
Callers reported seeing flames in the attic over the home’s garage. A structure fire response was dispatched and the first arriving company officer reported heavy smoke and fire conditions with fire through the garage roof. A second alarm response was requested by the incident commander due to the fire’s intensity and proximity of nearby homes.
Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in about 30 minutes. According to Battalion Chief Andre Paredes the home sustained major damage to the garage and contents, however, there was minimal damage to the living space of the home. Fortunately, there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
Escondido Police Officers assisted with traffic control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
