• Police officers responded to reports of gunshots on Jan. 26 near Daybreak Grove Apartments.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound lying down near a driveway, police said.

The man was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died.

Detectives have not found a motive behind the shooting. Police are encour­aging anyone with information to call the department at (760) 839-4722.

• The Escondido Police Department worked jointly with the city’s attor­ney’s office to swiftly close a massage parlor engaged in prostitution, authori­ties said.

The business was called Oriental Therapy and was located on E. Valley Parkway. It was closed in December of last year.

On Jan. 20, the Department led a separate inspection of local massage businesses.

According to a press release, out of 22 massage businesses, 15 were violat­ing municipal codes, and 10 were vio­lating fire and safety ordinances.
