Students graduate from Whitworth University
The following student has been awarded a degree from Whitworth University: Megan Cavataio, of Escondido, who earned a Bachelor of Arts, Biology and Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude.
Located in Spokane, Washington, Whitworth is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Baylor University confers degrees on spring graduates
Baylor University, the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, conferred degrees on a record number of nearly 3,000 graduates during three spring commencement exercises May 11-12 in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus.
Natalie Diana Ortega, of Escondido, was awarded a Bachelor of Business Admin., Economics.

News from St. Lawrence University
Luis G. Jimenez of Escondido was one of nearly 520 students who were awarded bachelor’s degrees from St. Lawrence University during Commencement ceremonies held on May 20 in Canton, New York.
Jimenez is a member of the Class of 2018 and majored in economics. Jimenez received the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Jimenez attended San Pasqual High School.
Graduates, faculty, staff and guests heard remarks from honorary degree recipients Haruyoshi “Yoshi” Udagawa ‘74, faculty emeritus at the Toyo University, and Melanie Smeallie Mbuyi ‘77, Operations Officer for East Asia Pacific Region Finance and Markets Global Practice at the World Bank. NPR affiliate North Country Public Radio, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, received the 2018 North Country Citation.

Local residents named to President’s List at Gonzaga University
Jenna Mathews of Escondido earned placement on the Gonzaga University President’s List for spring semester 2018. Students must earn a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.

Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Ryan Smith of Escondido, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Newcomb – Tulane College.

Kylie Freitas, of Escondido has been named to the Spring 2018 Dean’s List at Roger Williams University, in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean’s List that semester.

Michael Litton of Escondido has been named to the Deans’ List/Explore Center List of Distinguished Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
Litton, a sophomore mechanical engineering major, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Engineering.
More than 4,900 students at Nebraska have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester.
