Julian Rodriguez named to Central College Dean’s List for Fall 2020
Julian Rodriguez, a Central College student from Escondido, has been named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2020 semester.
The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.
Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, four-year liberal arts college. Central is known for its academic rigor, leadership and character development, global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and sustainability education, athletics and service. Escondido residents named to University of Utah’s Dean’s List
Abigail Traxler, of Escondido, was named to the University of Utah’s Fall 2020 Dean’s List. Traxler’s major is listed as Biomedical Engineering BIO. Also named the list was Reese Wazny of Escondido, whose major is listed as Pre Business BA
Traxler and Wazny were among more than 9,700 students named to the Fall 2020 Dean’s List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.
The University of Utah, located in Salt Lake City in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, is the flagship institution of higher learning in Utah. Founded in 1850, it serves over 32,000 students from across the U.S. and the world.
Matthew Torres receives academic scholarship to Culver-Stockton College
Matthew Torres from Escondido was accepted into Culver-Stockton College’s incoming class for the fall 2021 semester.
Torres, a senior at San Pasqual High School, also was awarded the Hilltop Scholarship, a $10,500 per year scholarship for four years. This scholarship is awarded based upon academic credentials and is renewable provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Missouri, is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC specializes in experiential education and is one of only two colleges in the nation to offer the 12+3 semester calendar, where the typical 15-week semester is divided into a 12-week term and a 3-week term.
UT Martin names local student to fall semester Chancellor’s Honor Roll
The outstanding academic achievements of undergraduate students at the University of Tennessee at Martin have been honored with publication of the Fall 2020 Chancellor’s Honor Rolls for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, College of Business and Global Affairs, College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Included on that list is Devon A. Woods of Escondido, who was awarded Highest Honors.
To be eligible for the Chancellor’s Honor Roll recognition at UT Martin, a student must take at least 12 hours of credit (pass-fail courses are not included) and achieve a 3.2 (B) grade point average based on a 4.0 scale. Students can make the Chancellor’s Honor Roll with honors (3.2 through 3.49), high honors (3.5 through 3.79) or highest honors (3.8 through 4.0).
UT Martin is a comprehensive regional institution in the University of Tennessee System offering 18 bachelor’s degree programs and five master’s degree programs.
David Bonds, Jr. named a Cross Country Championship Scholar
David Bonds, Jr. was named the 2020 CCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship Scholar. Bonds is a sophomore at Cal State San Marcos pursuing a double major in software engineering and mathematics. He earned this distinction by holding the highest GPA of all eligible CCAA cross country runners. In addition, Bonds earned the CSUSM Mangrum Scholar Athlete Award and has been named to the Dean’s List each semester. He is a graduate of Escondido High School.
Daria Bonds named All-Academic Scholar Athlete
Daria Bonds was named a CCAA All-Academic Scholar Athlete. Bonds is a junior at Cal State San Marcos majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. In addition, she earned the CSUSM Big Blue Scholar Athlete Award and has been named to the Dean’s List each semester. Daria Bonds is a graduate of Escondido High School.
