Escondido businesswoman awarded Women of the Vine & Spirits scholarship

Cassandra Schaeg specializes in making the mysteries of wine less mysterious.

Cassandra Schaeg, founder of Escondido’s SIP Wine & Beer (SIP), is a recipient of the Women of the Vine & Spirits Scholarship. Schaeg was selected out of 376 applicants spanning 42 countries to advance and empower knowledge in the alcohol beverage industry. 

Women of the Vine & Spirits non-profit arm, the Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. 501(c)(3), awarded scholarships to 44 candidates, totaling $134,200.

Since opening in 2016, SIP focuses on infusing community, culture, and conversation. Schaeg, encourages novice and experienced wine and beer lovers to explore San Diego’s wine and beer presence. She also empowers women and minorities to disrupt the alcohol beverage industry. Women and minorities  account for 4% of the alcohol beverage industry. Her goal is to increase representation and call attention to notables in the industry.

SIP gained notoriety as a destination for a unique wine and beer selection, live music, wine classes, and curated events. SIP is also the hub for WineVersations, a web series focusing on conversations with San Diego’s influential leaders.
