Services for Ellen Marie King Duli will be held February 22.
Ellen Marie King Duli was born in French Lick, Indiana on April 18, 1925; the only child of Wesley A. King and Mable A. Kahler King. She graduated from Paoli High School in 1944, and Palomar College in 1976, she then attended San Diego State College for two semesters.
After high school Ellen King was employed at National Tube Co. in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and later as a Junior Draftsman at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In 1947 she met a sailor, George Duli who had just been assigned to duty in China but George returned to the U.S. six months later in order to marry Ellen.
Mrs. Duli is survived by her five children: Jeanne Kreuiter, George Michael Duli, Andrea Lunn, Dorothea Duli and Kim Bryant. The girls all live in San Diego County and George M. in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She also has survived by her four grandchildren, Wendy, Lauren, Jared and Julia and four great grandchildren, Naykala, Rachelle, Breana and Melina.
Her hobbies, when she could take time out, were painting (water color and oils), reading and sometimes writing a poem or two.
After George’s retirement from teaching they enjoyed to travel and also took senior trips all over California.
She was an active 30-year member of the Ladies Subsidiary of the F.R.A. Unit 270 and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Escondido.
A viewing is scheduled for Wed. February 22 from noon — 1 p.m. at California Funeral Alternatives, 1020 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Escondido, followed at 1:30 p.m. by a graveside service at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 2640 Glenridge Rd., Escondido.
