EAA’s “Celebrate Grand Escondido” winners announced

Escondido Art Association held its Reception and Awards Presentation for the 3nd Annual “Celebrate Grand Escondido” 2-D Art Show on Saturday, October 14 at the Artists Gallery on 121 W. Grand Ave.   A total of $1,000 in award money, plus free entries to future shows, was presented to the winners in four categories as follows:

Best of Show ($150) was awarded to Kathy Aldrich for her acrylic painting entitled “Little Artist at Escondido Street Faire.”

Watercolor:  First Place ($100) to Sandra Lee for “Grape Day Park”; Second Place ($75) to Marcella Martin for “Old Escondido”; Third Place ($30) to Rosemarie Woldin for “Jalapeno Grill”; and Hon. Mention (free entry) to Elizabeth Erickson for “Corner of Jesmond Dene Park.”

Oil/Acrylic:  First Place ($100) to Patricia Titus for “Grape Day Park”; Second Place ($75) to Byron Marler for “Dixon Lake”; Third Place ($30) to Joan Segel for “Rube’s Nelsons Country Store”; and Hon. Mention to Patricia Titus for “Kit Carson Park.”.

Other/Mixed Media:  First Place ($100) to Linda Reyes for her pastel “Eye of the Tiger”;  Second Place ($75) to Anita Plaks for her pastel “Night Visitor”; Third Place ($30) to Dee Christianson  for “Crusin’ Grand”;  and Hon. Mention to Suzanne Nicolaisen for “My Escondido.”

Photography/Digital: First Place ($100) to Michael Nelson for “Water Mystic at City Hall”; Second Place ($75) to Rosemarie Woldin for “Parade Honoring Our First Responders”; and Third Place ($30) to Brenda Townsend for “Maple Street Plaza”; and Hon. Mention to Michael Nelson for “Hiding Out at Safari Park.”

A  Peoples Choice Award ($30, plus a free entry) selected by gallery visitors went to Michael Nelson for his photograph entitled “Hiding Out at Safari Park.”

The EAA thanked all the participants and the local sponsors.
