The Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club of Escondido presents its annual Trout Derby at Dixon Lake this Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.
A total of 9000 pounds of hungry trout will have been planted prior to the Derby assuring another great fishing outing.
One of the most popular features of the Trout Derby is the Kiddie Ponds . . . a fishing dock with two areas set aside just for the kiddies (up to 8 years of age) with rods, reels, bait, and encouragement provided by the Escondido Senior Anglers Club and a number of Kiwanis members.
Plenty of food will be available from hot breakfast sandwiches in the morning, hamburgers and hot dogs in the afternoon and Kona Ice in the afternoon.
The Trout Derby is the major fund raising event of the year for the Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club of Escondido. Funds go to support local youth activities. This year’s primary goal is to fund new playground equipment at Dixon Lake – a $60,000 investment in the youth.
There will be great photo opportunities. It’s hard to beat the image of young kids catching their first trout ever – the smiles and laughter are infectious! For information contact: Jim Mac Isaac at 858-248-7211, HVKiwanis@cox.net or visit.
