Dennis Warren Johnson, formerly of Escondido, died peacefully at home in Rathdrum, Idaho on November 24, 2014.
Mr. Johnson was born January 13, 1940 in Wahpeton, North Dakota, to Orvis & Louella Johnson. When he was 7-years-old, the family moved to Escondido.
In 1961 Mr. Johnson married Lily Nelson. They both worked at the family grocery store, Nelson’s Market. In 1977 he and his family moved to Rathdrum. He retired from Jerry’s Body Shop in Coeur d’Alene.
Throughout his life, Mr. Johnson enjoyed fixing hot rods and racing boats. He was also involved with the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue for San Diego County. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at Hauser Lake.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Gary Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Lily, of 52 years; son, Dennis Jr. (and wife, Chrissy) and grandchildren Brandon and Ashley; daughter Lynette Johnson (and fiancé James Fitzgerald); daughter Kim (and husband, Ed), Stubbers and grandchildren Justin (and wife, Shady) Stubbers, Brianne, Cassidy, Kaitlin, and Hailey Stubbers; sister Leila Smith of Parma, Idaho; nephew Larry (and wife Julie) Smith, and nieces Sherri and Christie Smith.
