Climate change lecture Saturday at library

Eve Simmons will be the speaker at a free program called “Hard Realities and Pragmatic Optimism” August 5 at the Escondido Library.

Eve Simmons will present a free presentation August 5, 1 p.m. entitled “Hard realities and pragmatic optimism” at the Escondido Public Library upstairs at the Turrentine Room.

Simmons is an environmental advocate, former photojournalist and wildlife guide. Sourcing the world’s top experts, she will discuss climate challenges and explore solutions.

Simmons has lectured throughout Southern California on environment, policies and practices, habitat and species loss, the Greenhouse Effect/Global Warming and our oceans, for nearly 30 years. She lobbies on these issues locally and on Capitol Hill. She serves on San Diego County’s Fish and Wildlife Advisory Commission and was an elected delegate to California’s State Assembly.

A Climate Reality Project Leader, Simmons served on the boards of Encinitas EcoFest and the San Diego Energy District Foundation. A small business owner, wife, and mom, she is a member of Citizen’s Climate Lobby, 350.org, Union of Concerned Scientists, Greenpeace, Sierra Club and more.
