The City Council at its January 11 meeting will be asked to authorize the renovation of the James A. Stone municipal pool, aka Jim Stone Pool, which is located at 131 West Woodward Ave.
The city opened bids on the project December 22, but the name of the qualifying contractor hasn’t been made public yet. This project will renovate both existing pools and update pool equipment required to meet current County Health standards
Staff is preparing the green sheet in anticipation of bringing the project to City Council for authorization to award at the January 11 council meeting.
The pool was officially renamed the “James A. Stone” municipal swimming pool in December 1997, to honor Jim Stone, who was the City aquatics manager for 35 years. Stone died in January 1998.
The pool includes the 25-yard swimming pool and the small children’s pool.
