The City of Escondido received the “2014 Scrub Seal Project of the Year” award from the California Chip Seal Association (CCSA) for the FY 13/14 Street Maintenance project. The project was chosen by the Association for City staff’s teamwork with the contractor and material suppliers, and the quality of the finished product.
As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to find treatments to cost-effectively extend pavement life and provide smooth, safe driving conditions for our residents, the City elected to use a Scrub Chip Seal to treat streets that were overdue for maintenance.
Scrub Chip Seal was chosen because of its value and ability to rejuvenate the surface of old streets and fill in cracks to help reduce pavement erosion and extend the life of treated streets.
The City also uses a rubberized chip seal (ARAM) and other products in its Pavement Management Program to protect and seal streets.
