CHP seek pick-up from hit and run fatality


CHP ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER WHO KILLED A PEDESTRIAN IN FALLBROOK

On December 10, 2020 at approximately 5:01 PM two pedestrians from Fallbrook were walking northbound on the east shoulder of Gird Road north of Laketree Drive.  A 60-year-old female and her husband were walking on the dirt shoulder when a pickup truck approached from the rear traveling northbound.  The truck left the roadway to the right onto the dirt shoulder and struck the female.  The truck stopped at the scene momentarily and then fled continuing northbound on Gird Road.

North County Fire Protection District and CHP were immediately dispatched to the scene.  Fire personnel attempted life saving measures at the scene.  Unfortunately, the 60-year-old female died at the scene.

Her 60-year-old husband was not injured during the collision.

The truck involved in the collision is described as an older model pickup truck dark in color.  The truck will likely have damage to the right front side.  Video footage from the area is being reviewed to develop additional information regarding the pickup truck.

The California Highway Patrol is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the driver and pickup truck involved in this collision.  Should a member of the public have information regarding the driver, vehicle, or may have witnessed the collision they are encouraged to contact the CHP at 858-637-3800.

This incident remains under investigation.
