Chamber to sponsor annual golf challenge Monday

For the Chamber’s golf tournament. Artists include Suzanne Nicolaisen, Alison Driessen, Rosemarie Woldin, Byron Marler, Janice Niles, Melody Maxcy and Jinx Lennon.

With spring arriving and the idealistic weather of North County becoming postcard-perfect, everyone is looking to get outside after a long, COVID-themed year. Well, the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, partnering for the first time with the California Center for the Arts – Escondido, has the perfect way to do just that. The 23rd Annual Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament!

The event is taking place this Monday, April 12 at The Vineyard at Escondido Golf Course, with the proceeds benefiting both CCAE and the Chamber, along with the Escondido Police Athletic League. The morning event, starting at 8 a.m., will give players a chance to not only support three incredible local organizations, but a chance to win some great prizes. Hit a hole-in-one and you choose either $10,000 cash or a week-long Canadian Fly Fishing trip for two staying at Chateau Lake Louise, or get closest to the pin and win either a big screen TV or a trip to Las Vegas! However, you can’t win if you don’t play so if you haven’t registered be sure to sign up now….there is still time!

Another exciting aspect to this event is the inclusion of “Art” since the Chamber is partnering with the CCAE. The Center is donating nine paintings by Duane Light that will be featured on the tee boxes and up for auction. The Chamber also worked with Suzanne Nicolaisen from the Escondido Arts Association to have her and other local Artists custom paint 18 golf flags. Each hole will feature one of these hand-painted flags that will also be up for auction or awarded as prizes.

In addition, after coming out of a year-long pandemic challenge the Escondido Chamber of Commerce begins a new tradition by awarding the winning team with an actual “Challenge Cup”. The winners will get to hold on to the Challenge Cup for an entire year, claiming community bragging rights, until the next year’s tournament…similar to the Stanley Cup.

The tournament is made possible with the support of some fantastic local businesses such as the San Pasqual Economic Development Corp., Landmark Consulting, Escondido Disposal Inc., Owens Training & Consulting, Quality Inn & Suites Escondido, Erickson-Hall Construction, and more.

So make plans now to join the Chamber of Commerce and their guests, and take part in an event where you can make a difference in the community! Tickets and more information can be found at the Chamber’s website:
