Brush fire at Kit Carson Park

On Sunday, May 6 at about 2:02 a.m. the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a brush fire in Kit Carson Park. The first arriving engine confirmed a fire and attempted to gain access, which proved to be difficult due to the location.
A second alarm was requested due to the access issue. Crews were able to contain the fire within one hour, crews remained on scene for several hours due to extensive overhaul. The fire was approximately half an acre in size. A total of seven engines, two Battalion Chiefs and one Investigator responded to the fire. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
