Bilingual Book Discussion Group meets at Escondido Public Library

Escondido Public Library’s Bilingual Book Discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, May 21, from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. Senior Library Associate Cecy Rayphole will lead the discussion of this month’s selection, Nunca me abandones/Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro in both English and Spanish. Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.

Nunca me abandones/Never Let Me Go is a thought-provoking dystopian novel that deals with love, coming of age, and what it means to be human. Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy attend an elite boarding school in the English countryside where students are not allowed to leave and their futures are unknown. They develop a close, but complicated, friendship that turns into a love triangle. Years later, the trio reconnect, look back upon their time in school, and realize just how unique their experiences were.

Rincón Literario will continue on Saturday, June 18, as a part of the Library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge for kids, teens, and adults, which runs from June 13 to July 31 and encourages community members of all ages to Exercise Your Mind. The June selection is El guardián invisible/The Invisible Guardian by newcomer Spanish author, Dolores Redondo.
