The Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center is scheduled to open on Saturday, September 22. It will be open daily through Wednesday, October 31.
Over 50 years of fall traditions and memories have been created at the farm. As in years past, families and friends will enjoy the tractor hayrides, straw maze, petting corral, Snow’s Pony Rides, great food, live entertainment on the weekends and fresh country air.
The many varieties of pumpkins to choose from include the white Ghost pumpkins, Cinderella or Fairy Tale, traditional Jack o’ Lantern, and mini pumpkins. The stars of the pumpkin patch are Bates Nut Farm’s own Big Mac pumpkins that visitors can pick right from the fields. And of course, the pumpkin patch makes a great backdrop for photos.
Weekends at Bates have many special events and activities in addition to the regular attractions. From 12-3 each Saturday and Sunday and 4-7 pm on select Friday evenings there will be live music on the Bates stage. Family friendly activities include a rock climb, bounce house, slide and more. Hungry visitors can choose from What’s Cookin’ BBQ, kettle corn, and food trucks. Special events include “Celebrating Farm Life” Farm Education & Youth Days 9/29-9/30, Antique Tractor show 9/29 & 9/30, the Pumpkin Festival Craft Fair 10/6 – 10/7, Scarecrow Contest 10/13, Costume Contest & Parade 10/20 and the Howl-o-Ween Doggie Costume Contest & Parade on 10/21.
