Marilyn Guidroz, the owner and president of Marilyn’s Garden Design and a certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, will speak to us on “Gardening in a Dry Climate.” She will cover the highlights of a California Friendly Landscape, including a watershed approach, building up the soil, evaluating your site, right plants for the right place, rainwater harvesting, and managing your irrigation. This is a timely topic for Valley Center residents. Marilyn gives lectures and workshops to garden clubs and community events, and lives with her husband and son in Valley Center. PATRIOT DAY—Valley Center Firefighters, September 11, will hold a Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony from 0645 to 0900. The event will occur In front of Valley Center Station 1 at 28234 Lilac Road. They will be reading the names of the fallen public safety heros and keep our promise to Never Forget the day they gave the ultimate sacrifice.
