Escondido SATURDAY Market, Held every Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Grand Ave. North County’s newest artisan market in historic Downtown Escondido. Come for unique products and fresh produce in a hip urban market.

Escondido Farmers Market, Tuesdays 2:30-6 p.m., Year-Round, event is held on Grand Ave. between Juniper and Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido. Local, farm fresh produce. Local flowers and plants. Arts and crafts from area artisans.

Calvin Christian School Open House. Calvin Christian School will host an open house for prospective families later this month. On Monday, January 26, prospective families and students are invited to “Move On Up” night beginning at 6 p.m. Parents and students can visit classrooms on both campuses, talk with teachers and coaches and tour facilities. Zita the Space Girl. Escondido Public Library’s Read, Eat, and Discuss (R.E.A.D.) Middle Grade Book Club for children, ages 9-12, meets on Friday, February 6, in the Turrentine Room from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Ben Hatke’s Zita the Spacegirl will be discussed, followed by a craft activity.

Art Association seeks entries Escondido Art Association has launched its 2015 Art Scholarship Program for graduating Escondido High School seniors. President Byron Marler, and Publicity Chairman Rosemarie Woldin, have been visiting Escondido schools to give presentations on the scholarship program to art students and teachers. The scholarship is sponsored by the Stensrud Foundation with a total of $1,000 being awarded: $500 for First Place; $300 for Second; and, $200 for Third. All entries must be submitted to the Artists Gallery at 121 W. Grand Ave. in Escondido on Saturday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. or the deadline date of Monday, March 2, from 4 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A Reception and Awards Ceremony will take place at the Artists Gallery on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with awards being presented at 6:00 p.m. Winners must be present to receive their cash awards.
