Sikes Adobe Historic Farmhouse is a visit to the past. Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead is a State Point of Interest and City of San Diego historic site in Escondido. The Farmhouse, (built around 1870), provides a unique opportunity to see what life was like in early San Diego settlements. Located at the Gateway to the San Pasqual Valley, right off the I-15 at Via Rancho Parkway at 12655 Sunset Drive in Escondido, the Farmhouse is open for docent-led tours: Sundays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. –1 p.m. A $3 donation per person is requested. The Ken Patterson Memorial Golf Classic Fundraiser to benefit bladder cancer and Raising a Reader, hosted by the Escondido Free & Accepted Masons, will be Friday, July 10, noon, at Rancho Bernardo Inn & Country Club. Cost is $150 per person, which includes golf and the dinner dance. For the non-golfers the cost is $75 for dinner-dance. There will be a social hour, and Italian dinner buffet, from 5-6 p.m., a silent and live auction. Dance to Myron & the Kyniptionz.
Home Firearm Safety/Basic Handgun Class—A monthly 3 hour familiarization and safety class is offered for anyone anticipating the purchase of, or who already own, a handgun. The class is offered Sunday, July 12 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Escondido Fish and Game Association shooting range east of Lake Wohlford. Participants learn the basics of handguns, home firearm safety and responsibility of firearm ownership. Handguns and ammunition are provided for the class but participants are encouraged to bring their own handgun if they already own one. The Escondido Fish and Game Association range is located at 16525 Guejito Road and Lake Wohlford Road. Cost is $60.00.
