Town hall meeting with Congressman Hunter—
Congressman Duncan Hunter, Escondido’s representative in the House, will be hosting an “informal public” town hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at the Escondido City Hall.
A meet and greet will begin 30 minutes prior to the town hall.
The event is free, but a RSVP is required. To register for the event, visit the Escondido Chamber of Commerce’s website at escondidochamber.org.
Talking climate change at the Escondido library—
Dr. Tom English is the featured speaker at a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Escondido Library in the Turrentine Room upstairs.
Featured speakers: Tom English, Carlsbad lecturer and scientist, and Mr. Rolf Dorp, a grassroots organizer in North County.
Sponsored by The North County Climate Change Alliance, as well as the Escondido Chamber of Citizens, the meeting’s discussion will address a range of topics drawn into public consciousness by the ongoing developments in climate change.

February guided hikes hosted at Daley Ranch—
The Friends of Daley Ranch will be hosting several guided hikes in the month of February.
Naturalist William Sherrard will be guiding a slow to moderate hike at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Daley Ranch. The planned hike is between five and seven miles. At 10 a.m. on the same day, a kid-friendly hike will be hosted by naturalist DJ Summers.
At 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day — there will be a hike guided by naturalist Rick Paul that shows off the diverse plants and views of Daley Ranch. The Friends describe it as a “wonderful way to show your love.” The hike will begin at the Cougar Pass Parking Lot.
