Escondido Cool Zone Locations The City of Escondido reminds the public that three City facilities have been designated as Cool Zone sites. These sites are airconditioned settings where seniors and others can gather. College and Career Day to be held Oct. 3—A free College and Career Fair will be held on Saturday, October 3, from noon to 4 p.m. on levels 2 and 3 at Westfield North County mall, 272 East Via Rancho Parkway. Representatives from over 100 colleges and universities will be on hand to provide information to students and their parents about entrance requirements, application deadlines, and majors. Representatives also will be there for those interested in community college, trade school, certification programs and military service. Celebrate Banned Book Week— Celebrate your right to choose what you read during Banned Books Week, September 27 – October 3 at Escondido Public Library. Banned Books Week is an annual national awareness campaign celebrating the freedom to read, and drawing attention to banned and challenged books, such as Catcher in the Rye, Harry Potter, and The Bible. Visit the Library and select a book of your choice, or one from a Banned Books Week display.
