The non-profit, Alternatives Women’s Center, will host its annual Fall Giving Banquet—An Evening of Alternatives—showcasing their medical services and educational programs that empower women and men to make life-affirming choices concerning unplanned pregnancies and sexual health.
The banquet, which will be held Thursday October 26, 7 p.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, will feature keynote speaker Abby Johnson. A former Planned Parenthood Director, Johnson has turned prolife activist, best-selling author, and educator. The Fall Giving Banquet is Alternatives Women’s Center’s biggest annual fundraiser hosting philanthropists, local business leaders, and supporters from near and far.
Johnson has always had a fierce determination to help women in need. This desire both led her to a career with Planned Parenthood, the U.S.’s largest abortion provider, and caused her to flee the organization and become an outspoken advocate for the pro-life movement.
Today, Johnson travels across the globe sharing her story, educating the public on pro-life issues, advocating for the unborn, and reaching out to abortion clinic staff who still work in the industry.
Johnson is the founder of And Then There Were None, a ministry designed to assist abortion clinic workers out of the industry. To date, this ministry has helped over 300 workers leave the abortion industry. She is a frequently requested guest on Fox News and a variety of other shows and the author of the nationally best-selling book, “Unplanned,” which chronicles both her experiences within Planned Parenthood and her dramatic exit. She lives in Texas with her husband and five children.
Alternatives Women’s Center began over 30 years ago as a small Christ-centered ministry helping women facing unplanned pregnancies by offering diapers, baby clothes, and other needed supplies. Today, it is a fully accredited life-affirming AAAHC medical clinic.
It meets the standards of care set forth by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, offering pregnancy testing, limited obstetrical ultrasounds, parenting education courses, and many other programs and services – including providing diapers, formula, baby clothing and other supplies needed by families. In 2015, Alternatives Women’s Center expanded its reach by adding a Mobile Medical Clinic to the community. Both medical clinics – the mobile and the building in downtown Escondido – have a full medical staff.
Alternatives Women’s Center is a 501 (C) 3 and is funded entirely by private donations. The Alternatives Women’s Center Evening of Alternatives is sure to be one of the most meaningful fundraisers of the season. All are welcome to attend the free event, but you must register online at www.awc-ca.org.
