A Pedestrian Question

~EsoteRick Observations

Just as I stepped off the curb, I was struck by the obvious injustice right before my eyes! The flashing pedestrian control sign was a symbolic white male, in stride, to indicate it is OK to walk now … I could not believe my eyes! Just how pervasive is this sickness we are all suffering? Why is that sign so obviously misogynistic?

I was so dumbfounded I was nearly hit and killed by some idiot driving and texting at the same time! I have the right-of-way you dips**t! Can’t you see the sign?

God, I am not sure I can live in this world anymore! My feelings are hurt for all women! Everywhere we turn women have been marginalized and disrespected, for decades. Most of us guys are just now becoming aware of how insidious this male contrivance permeates our society. I thought I was “woke” but I have to admit, this street sign was right in front of me and until just a day ago, I had not recognized how demeaning and insensitive it was.

The cross walk was filled with working women too. I can’t imagine how angry this kind of in-your-face institutionalized hostility would make them feel. They have so many barriers in their lives already; this flashing reminder of how overpowering and unrelenting male oppression can be, must be depressing.

It makes me realize just how deeply the masculinization of our culture runs. Am I going to have to be reminded of this injustice every time I cross a lighted intersection? That would be unbearable! How can we get this changed?

I know the world is full of these transgressions, or should I say microaggressions? And as global ambassadors of nonbinary genderism, we informed Progressives must lead the way. The pedestrian sign may seem innocuous enough, but it serves as an enormous irritant to people who work in urban centers and have to confront the insult multiple times a day.

I think getting these signs neutralized should be a national priority! Maybe I should mention this to Kamala Harris just before the next Democratic Party Presidential candidate debate. She seems to get it. Perhaps I could get her to make a commitment, that should she be elected in 2020, she would use her Executive Privilege to mandate the replacement of every electronic white male crosswalk image in America.

She may even attract some moderate female Republican votes on this issue because nobody wants to be ordered around by white men anymore. And as for me? I would be OK with CROSS and STAY. But that would be insensitive to non-English speaking pedestrians.

We may need to appoint a commission to study the situation.
