FOR THOSE WHO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NEW STAR VALLEY PARK (see front page): The Valley Center Parks & Rec’s Advance Planning Committee will meet AT THE PARK this Thursday, 2 p.m. The purpose of the committee is to take input from the public on possible uses for this new property. HERE COME DA JUDGE!— Marcia Townsend is now a Lifetime Master Flower Show Judge. “I passed the test!” she announced at the March meeting of the VC Parks & Rec District, where she is this year’s president of the board.

PLANNING RESIGNATION— There has been a recent resignation on the Valley Center Community Planning Group. The vacancy is for a seat whose term expires January 9. Applications for the vacant seat (#15) should be submitted to Hans Britsch, chairman of the Nominations Committee no later than 7 p.m. on May 6, 2015. The applications will be reviewed at the May 11th VCCPG meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Valley Center Community Hall. Nomination by the Planning Group will be at the June 8, 2015 VCCPG Meeting, subject to appointment to the vacancy by the Board of Supervisors, for the remaining balance of the 4-year terms of the resigning member, expiring January 9, 2017(seat #15).

Applicants must be 18 years of age, and registered voters, and residents of the Valley Center Planning Area.

AT THE CHAMBER— The next Valley Center Chamber of Commerce Sunriser will be held April 3, 8—10 a.m. at the Chamber office. This one is sponsored by Relay for Life. Join the group for networking, breakfast and coffee.

The next Chamber Sundowner will be April 16, 5–7 p.m. at Adams Park Sponsored by the Valley Center Parks and Recreation and Freedom Now Promotions.

HEY SHUTTERBUGS—There will be a photography class held at the Palomar Mountain fire station

Saturday March 28 at 10 a.m. The course will focus on the technical aspects of digital cameras. The class is free.

The class’s teacher, John Lesac, can be reached at 760-742-3354. Lesac said he hopes to answer questions like: “Why does my digital camera have a film speed setting. It does not use film!” “What is a histogram and why does my camera show this?” “What is white balance?” and “When would I ever need to use manual settings on my camera?”

YARD SALE—Relay for Life will have a yard sale and pancake breakfast Saturday, March 28 at

Hidden Valley Obedience Park from 8 a.m. –noon. Teams from Relay for Life Escondido and Relay for Life Valley Center have cleaned out their closets for this sale.

BEREAVEMENT SEMINAR— On March 29, Palm Sunday, there will be a Bereavement Seminar for those who are bereaved or those supporting someone who has lost a loved one. The seminar will address how to cope during the Easter Season. It is put on by the Bereavement Ministry at St. Stephen Church in the Youth Room at 10 a.m. Please call Penny Blazej at 760- 685-3403 or email her at pennyblazej@gmail.com. There will be food and beverages served. This is the fourth annual bereavement seminar. All are welcomed!
